Throughout Latin America, talismans are placed over doors, in order to keep a home protected from negative energy. Some of these include palm garlands, which are hung across doorways to discourage bad luck and dark spirits from entering a space. Our version is a custom piece made exclusively for our collection from hand-gathered tree bark and pit fired unglazed pottery beads. The garland includes hand-rolled bark ropes on either side that can be tied into loops, or hidden underneath the piece when hung. These gorgeous works bring the beauty of nature indoors, and can be installed over a bed, door frame, or anywhere in a space where a little extra protection is required.
This democratic group of seven women who make our garlands collaborate on a range of products – including baskets, handwoven and embroidered textiles, along with delicately scented handmade soap that is made from local, organic ingredients.

Wipe with a damp cloth, warm water to clean. While a little water won’t hurt this piece, it should not be left damp for long periods, or mold and a musty scent may occur. If this happens, set the piece in a warm, dry local and reshape if necessary prior to.
The noted price is for a single garland. Given the nature of handmade, size, shape and hue will vary from the featured product image, as no two pieces are exactly the same.
