In a world where we spend the bulk of our time indoors, it’s more important than ever to bring the outdoors in. Biophilic experiences have been proven to encourage creativity, reduce stress, increase productivity and improve cognitive function. These slow made vases are created with Mexican clay and feature unique markings from the pit fire process. No two pieces are exactly the same. Whether you’re showcasing a bouquet of dried flowers, planting a cactus or simply using these vases as art pieces, they’re sure to bring a touch of rustic elegance to a space.

Artisans
This indigenous artisan family create their custom works in the Sierra of Oaxaca in their home workshop. Every custom piece is created with local clay, then slowly pit fired over the span of six hours – a process that results in durable, elegant works that are supreme examples of Mexican artistry. In addition to pottery, this community is also well known for natural dyes, embroidery work and their brass bands.

Dimensions
Approximately 32cm x 32cm

Care
Hand wash, and do not place in the dishwasher or microwave. These pieces are food safe, however care should be taken to not place anything greasy inside or they may stain. They can serve as a vase, however as the pieces are unglazed, natural pottery, they will sweat. If they will be holding standing water, we would suggest placing a protective plate under the piece initially. With time and use, it will eventually develop a lovely patina due to the water filtration.

Note
The price is for a single pottery vase. Given the nature of handmade, sizes, markings, designs and hues will vary from the featured product image.
