Tucked away in a remote region of Central Mexico, our artisan partners live in a community that aims to minimize plastic waste and focus on sustainable alternatives. With corn being the main staple of the local diet, these handmade trivets incorporate the husks that remain from meal preparation into their work. They are washed, braided tightly, wound into a snail figure, then sewn together. Each features a top loop so that it can be hung from the wall, if you wish.
This democratic group of 14 women collaborate on a range of products – including baskets, handwoven and embroidered textiles, along with delicately scented handmade soap that is made from local, organic ingredients.
