Handmade Jacaranda Wood Taper Candle Holder

Thanks to the jacaranda tree, an explosion of fragrant, deep lilac blooms act as a stunning natural canopy in Oaxaca during the spring. Jacaranda produces trumpet-shaped flowers that offer an alluring honey scent, along with the light, straight-grained wood for our custom taper candleholders, which are made to our specifications exclusively for our stock.

These pieces are available in two sizes that fit our standard size taper candles, as well as our smaller ritual candles. See the information below regarding sizing and care.

These holders are made from 100% wood, with no inner lining. Candles should not be left to burn unattended, as a general rule, or be left to burn right to the bottom. These actions may result in damage to the piece and potential fire.

Artisans


A talented and creative couple in Southern Mexico produce these forks for our collection, as well as other custom-made wooden utensils and combs. In their process, they use rustic tools and a meticulous eye for detail. They collaborate together as a family in their home workshop, and have been developing an evolving range of wood pieces for over three decades.

Dimensions

Large size is approximately 5cm wide x 10cm tall with a 2cm candle opening

Small size is approximately 3cm wide x 6cm tall with a 1cm candle opening

Care

In order to protect the beautiful finish of these custom pieces, they should be washed by hand in cool water – no dishwasher, microwave, bleach, harsh soaps or scrubbers. They also also simply be cleaned with a dry cloth. These pieces are not suitable for food service, and should be treated every month or so with a bit of linseed oil to condition, depending if they are washed often or not.
