Burnished Clay Bowls
$24.00
Made to our specifications exclusively for our collection, we offer these bowls in two sizes – one for cereal and one for serving – or whatever else strikes your fancy. The lovely sheen on our custom pieces is the result of an intense burnishing process with quartz stones that’s done before the traditional pit fire process – they’re not glazed. Not only are they beautiful, they’re lead-free and food safe. As they’re the result of a handmade process, there are elements that should be considered. Please read our notes below and check the associated price with size.
Artisan
The maker of these vessels has won awards for her work, and has made custom pieces for a range of clients, including museums across Mexico and the United States. She makes these pieces with the help of her husband, children and grandchildren, who help her to burnish and pit fire her handmade works.
Dimensions
Cereal bowl: approximately 16cm wide x 7cm high
Serving bowl: approximately 22cm wide x 11cm high
Care
For best care results, they should be washed and dried by hand – no dishwasher. We’d also recommend not to use them in the microwave.
Note
The noted prices are for a single cereal bowl or a single serving bowl. Please see the prices in the drop down menu below.
Given the nature of handmade, the sizes, finishes and hues will vary from the featured product image. As this piece is made from unglazed clay, it will naturally filter water, stain if greasy items are placed on the surface, scratch with the use of forks and knives, plus the pottery will gradually darken and dull over time with use. Also, given the process, these bowls may feature spots, cracks, scratches and darker areas. These are normal elements for this type of pottery – they’re not flaws.
