Nature speaks to nature with our custom incense burner that is made to our specs by our artisan partners from hand-gathered local earth. They are built and shaped by hand and pit fired for roughly one hour. As copal incense is used for healing and religious ceremonies throughout Mexico, these darling ceramic works each feature three tiny unhatched eggs at the center that reflect growth, renewal and possibilities. These pieces come with ten sticks of natural copal incense, however extra packets of incense can also be ordered individually.
Both utilitarian and traditional art piece, barro rojo ceramic works can be found in a variety of areas – from outdoor food vendors to elegant restaurant tables in Mexico City. This pottery is created by a group of over 70 artisan women in Southern Mexico using earth from their fields, which is dried for a week, and later mixed with sand and water. The pieces are shaped on a simple wheel and also by hand. Texture and polish are added through the use of corn husks, oil cloth and coconut shells, and the pottery is pit fired under a pile of wood, corn husks, pottery shards and corrugated steel sheets for roughly one hour.
Approximately 5cm wide x 2 ½cm tall (2” wide x 1” tall)
