This decadent merino wool is washed, carded and spun by hand on a traditional wooden drop spindle in the highlands of Oaxaca, Mexico. Our custom 300g balls of wool are spun to a medium weight per our specifications, and are perfect for knitting, crochet work, weaving projects, or even as a lovely display in a basket or bowl that speaks to traditional processes and a dedicated creative practice.

The Ramirez family have been working with wool for over 200 years. Their home workshop in Southern Mexico offers the family space to work together on handwoven wool pieces that are made on backstrap and standing loom, as well as knitting, crochet and woodwork. While their pieces are sublime, it is also time consuming, with a single 1kg ball of wool taking nearly a full week to wash, card and spin by hand. These collaborative pieces are exclusive to our stock and support fair wages that honor the time and tradition involved in their creation.
